Care
Airtight jar in a dry cupboard. Jaggery draws moisture; clumping in humid weather is normal.
Cane juice boiled down in open iron pans and dried into a loose powder, keeping the molasses that refined sugar strips out. It dissolves faster than a solid block and measures like sugar, so it drops straight into chai, kheer or a batch of chikki without breaking anything up.
The seed is crushed slowly at a temperature that never rises above about 45°C. Industrial oil is extracted with heat and a chemical solvent, then bleached and deodorised to make it uniform. Cold-pressing skips all of that, which is why the oil keeps its colour, aroma and nutrients — and why it varies slightly from batch to batch.
That is unrefined oil behaving normally. Fine particles of the seed stay suspended and settle over time. Refined oils are filtered and chemically treated until nothing is left to settle. Give the bottle a gentle swirl before use.
A cool, dark cupboard with the cap closed tight. Keep it away from the stove — repeated heating and cooling shortens its life. Refrigeration is not needed and may cause harmless cloudiness.
Nine months from the date of pressing, printed on every bottle along with the batch number. Because there are no preservatives, we recommend using it within two months of opening.
Groundnuts from farms around Latur and sunflower from Solapur, both in Maharashtra. Every batch carries the number of the pressing lot, so we can trace it back to the source.
