Whole Coriander Seed — where it comes from

Origin

Where it comes from

Kota, Rajasthan. 100% organic coriander seed (Coriandrum sativum).

Care

How to keep it

Airtight jar in a dry cupboard. Grind in small quantities as needed.

About this product

Coriander loses its aroma quickly once ground, so we sell it whole. These are the round, thin-skinned Rajasthani seeds — sweeter and more citrus-forward than the elongated kind. Dry-roast briefly before grinding and the difference against shop-bought powder is immediate.

Common questions

What does cold-pressed actually mean?

The seed is crushed slowly at a temperature that never rises above about 45°C. Industrial oil is extracted with heat and a chemical solvent, then bleached and deodorised to make it uniform. Cold-pressing skips all of that, which is why the oil keeps its colour, aroma and nutrients — and why it varies slightly from batch to batch.

Why is there sediment at the bottom of my bottle?

That is unrefined oil behaving normally. Fine particles of the seed stay suspended and settle over time. Refined oils are filtered and chemically treated until nothing is left to settle. Give the bottle a gentle swirl before use.

How should I store the oil?

A cool, dark cupboard with the cap closed tight. Keep it away from the stove — repeated heating and cooling shortens its life. Refrigeration is not needed and may cause harmless cloudiness.

What is the shelf life?

Nine months from the date of pressing, printed on every bottle along with the batch number. Because there are no preservatives, we recommend using it within two months of opening.

Where do the seeds come from?

Groundnuts from farms around Latur and sunflower from Solapur, both in Maharashtra. Every batch carries the number of the pressing lot, so we can trace it back to the source.
